COVID-19 Announcement
Jai Jinendra Everyone
We are seeing a growing number of media stories about the risks being posed by Novel Coronavirus, also called COVID-19. Public health authorities advise that the current risk to Canadians and people in British Columbia continues to be low. However, we understand circumstances may change quickly and you all may feel anxious.
Jain center of BC is paying close attention to the situation and Our executive committee discussed the evolving situations. We were actively looking at the ways to avoid large gathering or avoid gathering of across the age groups so we don’t contribute to spreading the virus or put our community members at risk, especially the age groups which are more prone to the worst impact of the virus. In your own safety, we request senior citizens, young kids or pregnant women to avoid gatherings at JCBC or elsewhere. Based on the recommendations we would also like to avoid the possibility of spreading any germs in the JCBC facility.
What’s happening?
Provincial health authorities have confirmed a rising number of cases in B.C. but they continue to assess the public health risk as low at this time. You can find important information about the virus, how it is spread, risk level, how to protect yourself and answers to other questions from the BC Centre for Disease Control here.
What is JCBC doing?
JCBC is monitoring the matter and checking for regular updates from provincial and federal public heath authorities. You can see the latest assessments from the BC Centre for Disease Control and Federal Government.
We have begun planning so we will be well prepared should the risk to public health change. We will provide updates to all as needed.
What should you do?
Public health authorities currently advise us to focus efforts on preventing transmission of cold and flu like illness including:
Other information
At this time normal sick protocols and procedures are to be followed if you are sick or have flu like symptoms. You should avoid coming to the Temple if you feel that you may be getting ill, or if a member of your family becomes sick.
The temple is open but we urge you to avoid visiting if you can.
We will be meeting regularly to assess ongoing risks and we will be posting updates. We urge you to be prepared now to protect yourself and your loved ones.
JCBC’s goal is to keep our community healthy, happy and protected.
What’s the government doing?
We are also pushing provincial premiers and the federal government to provide relief measures for small businesses in the event of a broader COVID-19 outbreak. We will keep you updated as we continue fighting for small business support during this difficult time.
