He is a pioneer in Jainism, Jain thinking and Jain way of living and has been active for several decades in the British Jain community; he is president of the Yorkshire Jain Foundation which he founded three decades ago.
In addition to his statistical publications, Mardia has published several articles on Jainism, and was editor of Jain magazine. In addition to delivering presentations around the world, Prof. Mardia collaborated in 2014 with the late Bollywood composer Ravindra Jain on an album of songs on the 4NT, Atma Ajar Amar Hai, in order to reach the widest possible audience through music – the most accessible form of communication there is. The first two songs from the album are on the You tube with several hits : the title track and its follow-up, Mana Karma bandha bandhe.
With the new hunger to learn our roots, he has been invited at many high profile venues as a key speakers such as the JAINA convention 2017 at the USA, House of Commons on AHIMSA Day 2017, and recently at the YJA convention 2018 Chicago through JNTA Jian Noble Truth Association) of which he is the Founder President.
This all underlines the powerful draw and international appeal of Prof. Mardia’s work and its impact in satisfying the hunger among contemporary Jains and broader audiences alike to understand the roots of our religion.
